The Dental Crown Treatment Process

Preparing The Tooth

Dr. Leah Divito will begin by cleaning and numbing your mouth in preparation for treatment. A dental drill will then be used to remove the decayed enamel and reshape your tooth to create a stable platform for your new dental crown.

Imaging & Temporary Crown Placement

Using dental putty or a 3D scanner, we will create impressions or models of your teeth, which will be used to build your custom dental crown. We’ll also capture some additional images of your teeth to ensure that your new crown matches the shade of your natural smile perfectly. Your model or impression will be sent to a dental lab, where your crown will be crafted out of durable materials. Your dentist will attach a temporary crown for the few weeks it will take for your permanent crown to be made in order to protect your newly prepared tooth.

Final Fit & Finish

Once we receive your permanent dental crown, you’ll return to our office for a final fitting. First, we’ll ensure that your new crown fits comfortably and make any final adjustments. When we’ve achieved the right fit, our Hudson dentist will permanently secure it in place with a powerful dental adhesive.
